Giving Back
Our son Gibson Walsh was involved in a tragic accident that took his life while attending college at Western Tech in Lacrosse, WI. Gibson was only 18 years old. The loss of Gibson has left our family devastated. My wife Deb, our youngest son Keegan, and I, want to do everything we can to keep Gibson’s memory alive.
Gibson loved sports, especially hockey. His favorite team was the New York Rangers. He also loved to golf, listening to the “Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, having fun with his friends and playing catch with his brother. Gibson was a four-year starter for the Hayward High School Hockey team and was a captain his senior year. He also was a standout golfer for Hayward High School. Gibson touched so many in his life through sports, academics, and friendships. Gibson always had a smile on his face and lived life to the fullest.
Our family is proud to have set up the Gibson Walsh 20 Foundation, a non-profit organization, to help student athletes in the Hayward area. Gibson’s foundation will fund scholarships for Hayward High School student athletes involved in hockey and golf. The future goal is to award scholarships to other surrounding area high school student athletes. In addition to scholarships, we plan to extend our support to youth sports in Hayward and other local communities.
