My name is Tyler Walsh. My son Gibson Walsh was involved in a tragic accident that took his life while he was going to college at Western Tech in Lacrosse, WI. Gibson was only 18 years old. The loss of Gibson has left our family devastated. My wife Deb, our youngest son Keegan, and I, want to do everything we can to keep Gibson’s name and life active in the surrounding communities that Gibson touched.

Gibson loved hockey, especially the New York Rangers, golf, sports in general, listening to “Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, having fun with his friends and playing catch with his brother and his dad. Gibson was a four-year starter for the Hayward High School Hockey team and was one of the captains his senior year. Gibson was also a standout golfer for Hayward High School. Gibson touched so many in his life through sports, academics, and life in general. Gibson always had a smile on his face and would help anyone.

Our family is proud to be setting up a non-profit organization for Gibson so that he may continue to help student athletes in the Hayward area and other surrounding communities through the Gibson Walsh 20 Foundation.

This foundation will be used to fund two scholarships in his name to be given to two student athletes involved in hockey and golf at Hayward High School. The future goal is to award scholarships to other surrounding hockey players as well. In addition to scholarships, we hope to extend our support to local communities with help from Gibson’s foundation in the future.
